The Royal Tenenbaums

The Royal Tenebaums (2001)
Wes Anderson
Criterion 157

The banished Royal fakes stomach cancer to reunite with his family.

James - My favorite movie, truly great because everything, from actors' performances to the framing to the soundtrack, are perfect. They create a sense of reality that is unmatched, beyond true life.
A+

Britney - This film is colorful and always aesthetically aware. I love the cartoon-y characters. Lovely soundtrack and hidden romances.
A+

  1. James, I think you deserve my left wrinkly testicle for turning me on to these Wes Anderson films, and Wes Anderson in general. I couldn't agree with the two of ya more. The first film that you guys brought to me, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, definitely caught my attention, but The Royal Tenenbaums just really blew my hair back, because I think it captures and puts into "reality" things I wouldn't even think of seeing in movie - let alone any movie that I could make. (Confession- while you were away, I watched this film at least four more times!) All around a perfect kiss to end.
