The Darjeeling Limited

The Darjeeling Limited (2007)
Wes Anderson
Criterion 540

The story of 3 brothers reuniting in India a year after their father's death.

James - Another beautiful Anderson entry, this film makes India a character to rival Wilson, Brody, and Schwartzman. It makes me want to travel India by train, making plans as I go along. Then again, it makes me realize that that is the cliché, and I don't need to travel to India to "find myself." Also, the soundtrack fits the movie like no other.
A+

Britney - No one does color better than Anderson. Casting and soundtrack are perfect. But do not watch without the prerequisite-Hotel Chevalier-which is just as wonderful as the main feature.
A+

  1. I know Anderson put quite a few intelligent, and sometimes hidden, details all about the film, and it's so fun to watch the scenes over and over again, because each time I do, I find or appreciate another little touch that he added to certain parts, like maybe something you woudn't notice in the background - a lot of moment you wouldn't expect. Very colorful. To me, this is his most unusual and unordinary, hehe. And come on, of course the soundtrack came with fabulous music from the Kinks, Fritz Reiner, Peter Sarstedt, and a wide selection of Indian styled tunes. A perfect original. And for anyone reading this, take Britney's advice and don't skip Hotel Chevalier, which is a short film before this. Cheers to a film worthy of fireworks.

P.s. The two of you make an outstanding movie review partnership - like Reel Geezers on youtube (my second favorite movie reviewing duo =)
